What Does a Gallbladder Attack Feel Like?

Who else wants to know what does a gallbladder attack feel like?

Believe it or not, many people don’t really know what a gallbladder attack feels like. This is largely due to the fact that gallbladder symptoms often feel like other gastrointestinal problems and are easily overlooked, ignored, or misdiagnosed.

The gallbladder is a small organ that helps the body digest fat and concentrate bile that is produced by the liver.

For those who don’t know what a gallbladder attack feels like, it often includes chest pain on the right side of the body as well as the upper abdominal area. This is often caused by gallstones that are blocking the pathway in the bile duct. This blockage from the liver to the small intestines can result in a sharp pain or an ongoing dull ache. You may find it extremely painful to touch the area under your liver on the left side of your body, where the gallbladder is located.

In addition, you may feel queasiness, nausea, and the urge to vomit.

But that’s not all!

Other symptoms may include difficulty walking or sitting up straight without experiencing intense pain. These gallbladder attack symptoms may peak after 15 minutes to an hour after the initial symptoms and can last up to 15 hours. If the gallstones blocks the flow of bile, bile may be backed up into the liver and forced into the bloodstream. The bile will travel throughout your body, causing your skin and the whites of your eyes to turn yellow. This condition is known as jaundice. If you experience jaundice or if you experience a fever or chills, you should see your doctor immediately.

These symptoms explaining what a gallbladder attack feels should aid you in your decision whether or not you need to see your local physician about your symptoms. Your doctor will be able to fully
diagnose and recommend a suitable treatment for you. In more serious cases, your gallbladder may need to be removed via surgery to prevent further complications and pain.
